Abstract

The article describes the experience of counseling a client with a trauma of loss that occurred in childhood. Existing typologies of mental trauma, concepts of shock or acute trauma, developmental traumas are considered. The mechanisms of mental trauma, the principles of processing traumatic experiences are revealed. Various methods of working with mental trauma are described, including the method of somatic therapy or the somatic experiencing, developed by Peter A. Levine. The content of the crisis of loss, recommendations for accompanying a child experiencing the loss of a loved one are considered. The experience of processing traumatic experiences in a specifc client is described.
