Abstract

The author investigates the mechanism of influence of the parental relation on the effectiveness of treatment and the rational use of the internal resources of a cancer child. The key to success in many ways is the psychological rehabilitation (both children, and their parents and family members), which is necessary to minimize the harm from a mental trauma received during illness and treatment. The aim of the author is to study the behaviour of parents and the attitude of adolescents to them, as well as to determine the types of psycho-corrective and psychotherapeutic measures that contribute to emotional support, the success of treatment, recovery and further socialization. 68 parents who have children with oncology and 68 adolescents aged 13–18 (26 girls and 42 boys) participated in the study. The results are presented.
