Dependency of social adaptation of elderly people on their needs and opportunities to engage in physical culture

Abstract

The article analyzes the reasons that contribute to and prevent the elderly from being physically active, as well as arguments that testify to the benefts of physical activity in old age. Physical culture is seen as a mean of adapting older people in modern society, which is not only a form of their employment, social activity, leisure, but also a very useful, life-improving activity, one of the conditions for maintaining physical, social and mental health, functional capabilities, and in ultimately, the social adaptability of older people.
