Psychological assistance program for HIV-infected women

Abstract

This article discusses the problem of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) disease. The annual increase in the growth rate of HIV incidence underlines the need to consider this problem not only from a medical, but also from a psychological point of view. The author identifies and describes the characteristic features of the emotional and personal sphere of HIV-infected women. Considerable attention is paid to the theoretical analysis of the psychological characteristics of HIV-infected patients. The results of diagnostics of the level of resilience, meaningfulness of life and strategies of coping with stress are presented. The main goals and objectives of the program of psychological assistance to HIV-infected women are considered. The results of the evaluation of the effectiveness of the psychological assistance program are presented. The obtained results will help to outline ways and means of psycho-correctional work to harmonize the emotional and personal sphere of HIV-infected people, which, in our opinion, determines the relevance of the chosen research topic.
