Psychological assistance to oncological patients at different stages of treatment

Abstract

The article discusses the importance of studying psychological and social problems of oncological patients in a medical institution and providing psychological assistance to them. The diagnosis “cancer” very often becomes one of the most difficult moments in a person’s life and gives rise to numerous fears. These fears emerge at the time of diagnosis, continue during the period of treatment and rehabilitation, and then pursue person throughout life. Therefore, psychologists can and should work with oncological patients and their relatives, providing psychological assistance at different stages of treatment. Some psychocorrective measures that are used to reduce patient’s emotional disorders while enhancing the positive effect on treatment are listed.
