The article analyses the problems of development of stationary social services for the elderly people in today's village based on the example of the village Povodimovo in the Republic of Mordovia. The author considered resources of social services in a rural residential care facility, their diversity, features which depend on the specific functions of a social institution, etc. The indicators of positive and negative impact of resource provision of residential care facility for the elderly (taking into account the objective and subjective evaluation criteria) were highlighted.
