On the question of professional identity of a social work specialist

Abstract

This article reveals the problem of professional identity of a social work specialist. The theoretical analysis of the concept from the standpoint of foreign and native psychologists, and the process of formation of professional identity with its stages and levels are presented. Approaches to the study of professional identity through the prism of the psychology of personality (Zeyer E.F., Klimov Ye.A., Pryazhnikov N.S., Schneyder L.B., et al.) are discussed. Authors demonstrate the importance of studying professional identity of social work specialist for the sake of his professional self-realization and reaching the top of professionalism. Particular attention is paid to the causes of formation, and milestones in the process of formation of professional identity of social work specialist in order to improve professional competence and compliance with professional standards.
